The audience thought a goal was coming when Harris Oortwijn got free with Gerjan van Zalen in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gerjan van Zalen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert Ubels in the 16th minute of play. Pimpelmee SV's Gerjan van Zalen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Pimpelmee SV from getting a goal against them. A hard shot by Ivo Hermensen from long distance, 30 minutes into the match, got Gerjan van Zalen's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The audience was convinced that Gert Jan Weken's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gerjan van Zalen was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game.
