After 7 played minutes Pascal Booy rounded Stepekolk FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Ger Roelfs came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Stepekolk FC's Coenraad Overdiep. But to his dismay, Coenraad Overdiep quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 15th minute, one of Varssel Eendracht:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Varssel Eendracht. Henry Kosterman shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Coenraad Overdiep sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ger Roelfs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Coenraad Overdiep in the 23rd minute of play. Coenraad Overdiep's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ger Roelfs read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Stepekolk FC's Marco Staal got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 29th minute, Wim Huisingh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Stepekolk FC's zone, Bruno Reitsma stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jhon Holst came out of the goal and Bruno Reitsma tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Coenraad Overdiep had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Franck Zegwaard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ger Roelfs having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pascal Booy was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Varssel Eendracht's goal looked a bit too open when Coenraad Overdiep came free, but Ger Roelfs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Franck Zegwaard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ger Roelfs came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Stepekolk FC's Coenraad Overdiep. But to his dismay, Coenraad Overdiep quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Stepekolk FC's Jhon Holst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emil Oosterman in the 66th minute of play. After 67 minutes, Jacobus Dekkers mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Varssel Eendracht and the Stepekolk FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Coenraad Overdiep had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pascal Booy scored 2-2 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jhon Holst, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Coenraad Overdiep had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stepekolk FC's Jhon Holst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pascal Booy in the 78th minute of play. Coenraad Overdiep could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Ger Roelfs made a huge save. In the 82nd minute Franck Zegwaard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ger Roelfs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After recieving a nice pass, Stepekolk FC's Henry Kosterman tried to score from far away in the 84th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Coenraad Overdiep received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Ger Roelfs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 97 minutes into the game, Ger Wikenburg cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Jhon Holst was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Varssel Eendracht fans cheered their team off the field, for while Stepekolk FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
