Timo Riemers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daan Borst in the 5th minute of play. Gregor Grijp succeeded in the game's 7th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. The supporters of VV Roden booed when Gagel HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heiko Plaggenborg didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute, Niels-Jan Tonnis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Roger Willems succeeded in the game's 15th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Timo Riemers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daan Borst in the 19th minute of play. 21 minutes into the match, VV Roden's goalkeeper Timo Riemers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ernst Weken. If Niels-Jan Tonnis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 30 minutes, Roger Willems managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VV Roden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roger Willems was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niels-Jan Tonnis in the 34th minute of play forced Gagel HC's goalkeeper Roger de Haan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute Niels-Jan Tonnis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roger de Haan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Roger Willems had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Roger de Haan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Niels-Jan Tonnis went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Roger de Haan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roger Willems in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half VV Roden were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daan Borst was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, VV Roden's goal looked a bit too open when Ernst Weken came free, but Timo Riemers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute of the match Edgar Kemper sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Timo Riemers skillfully saved the ball. Timo Riemers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregor Grijp in the 56th minute of play. Timo Riemers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daan Borst, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Roger de Haan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roger Willems went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. After 64 played minutes VV Roden got a freekick which was hit by Youri Klaasens. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daan Borst in the 69th minute of play forced VV Roden's goalkeeper Timo Riemers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kees Buys took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Timo Riemers. Timo Riemers dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. After a rather tough play, Gagel HC's Jhon Spoel got a free kick in the 73rd minute. 74 minutes into the match, VV Roden's Roger Willems sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roger de Haan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Daan Borst made a precise shot to the right of Timo Riemers. VV Roden's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-3. In the 80th match minute, Gagel HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Huub van As to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Sjoerd van der Wiel from long distance, 81 minutes into the match, got Roger de Haan's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Roger de Haan was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Roger Willems showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-4 in the 85 minute of play. Roger de Haan made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Roger Willems sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Roger Willems managed to get in a good position for a shot. VV Roden's supporters rose to their feet, but Roger Willems was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roger de Haan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Niels-Jan Tonnis struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Roger de Haan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VV Roden. 96 minutes into the match, VV Roden's Roger Willems sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Roger de Haan narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
