In the 22nd minute Florian Cruijff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Theo Alberda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 24th match minute, Kwakel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florian Cruijff to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute, Sjef van der Leegte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Martijn Meerdink in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Theo Alberda prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 46 minutes into the match, Kwakel's Martijn Meerdink sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Theo Alberda narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Jan-Peter Koekkoek kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. If Martijn Meerdink had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute.
