Steven Bos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeffrey Kolman having to interfere. Jeffrey Kolman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruud Teesing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Meijel's Berend Klein got a free kick in the 20th minute. 22 minutes into the match, Meijel's goalkeeper René Adelaar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gio Staarman. Alfred Zwartkruis kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Meijel defense, Gio Staarman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of René Adelaar. The Meijel fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that René Adelaar should have stopped the shot. Hette Soer kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. When Hendrik-Jan Boven fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Meijel's protests and gave Hendrik-Jan Boven a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of AFC Ajax booed when Meijel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hendrik-Jan Boven didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wouter Pluym didn't quite understand what happened when in the 38 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. After 40 played minutes Sjoerd Hoogland rounded Meijel's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. If Steven Bos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 48th minute, Meijel's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gio Staarman fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ruud Teesing stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Steven Bos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. AFC Ajax's Jeffrey Kolman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save AFC Ajax from getting a goal against them. Berend Klein received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Jeffrey Kolman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 62 minutes, Steven Bos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Meijel's supporters crossed their fingers, but Steven Bos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Meijel's Ruud Teesing got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. René Adelaar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gio Staarman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 74 minutes, Alfred Zwartkruis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Meijel and the AFC Ajax players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gio Staarman in the 77th minute of play forced Meijel's goalkeeper René Adelaar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
