Geert Degeling made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roland de Jong in the 5th minute of play. Roland de Jong received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. In the 34th minute, Jaap Wesveld had to leave the field with a concussion. After 34 minutes, Rolf Kiewiet mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Doezum HC and the Espele players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 35 played minutes Doezum HC got a freekick which was hit by Rolf Kiewiet. Jens Blank was extremely unlucky when he, in the 39th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 40 minutes into the game, Peter Riemers was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Espele's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Doezum HC the free kick. In the 40th minute, Peter Riemers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot 41 in the game by Jens Blank from a close distance when the talented Arno van Steensel managed to make a qualified save. Espele's players were relieved. Wilco Planting made a great header on Doezum HC's corner, it was just that Espele's Arno van Steensel managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 45th minute Jens Blank shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arno van Steensel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iwan Kruijs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Robert-Jan Lammens to make the kick off. Arno van Steensel didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Doezum HC's Jens Blank shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-0 in the ordered_time% minute. Jens Blank recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arno van Steensel came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Doezum HC's Jens Blank. But to his dismay, Jens Blank quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Doezum HC's Jens Blank got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Espele getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Ronald Grol hit a great ball. Jens Blank sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jens Blank in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arno van Steensel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 73 minutes into the match, Doezum HC's Jens Blank sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arno van Steensel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Robert-Jan Lammens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Iwan Kruijs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peter Riemers was shown his second yellow card after 78 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jens Blank couldn't finish the play. Arno van Steensel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jens Blank in the 82nd minute of the match. Doezum HC's Carel Oevermans pulled a muscle in his leg after 83 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Roland de Jong's late challenge caught a Doezum HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roland de Jong helped the player get up and apologised. Arno van Steensel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iwan Kruijs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arno van Steensel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Doezum HC.
