Houten's Thomas Fikkers got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Emiel Drent put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Herbert Spiljard. A collision led to Houten getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Hette Jansen hit a great ball. Thomas Fikkers blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Herbert Spiljard having to make a save. Emiel Drent received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Herbert Spiljard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Emiel Drent's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herbert Spiljard was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Herbert Spiljard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomas Fikkers, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Arcen's goal looked a bit too open when Emiel Drent came free, but Herbert Spiljard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Herbert Spiljard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emiel Drent in the 29th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emiel Drent in the 48th minute of play forced Arcen's goalkeeper Herbert Spiljard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Giel Grommers to strike the kick off in the second half. Oscar Engbers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th match minute, Arcen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harald Schiphouwer to maneuver through the defense. When Harald Schiphouwer fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arcen's protests and gave Harald Schiphouwer a yellow card for diving instead. With a little luck, Arcen's Herbert Spiljard got control of the ball when Thomas Fikkers tried to sneak it across the goal line. Emiel Drent recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Arcen getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Ferdi Heebels hit a great ball. Robin Westerink came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Arcen's Oscar Engbers. But to his dismay, Oscar Engbers quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The Arcen fans' excitement grew in the 78th match minute when Arcen's Oscar Engbers looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Arcen's Giel Grommers got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Arcen booed when Houten was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jhon Vrieling didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Giel Grommers came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Arcen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giel Grommers couldn't finish the play. Arcen's Herbert Spiljard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emiel Drent in the 92nd minute of play. Harald Schiphouwer got his second yellow card in the match during the 93rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Harald Schiphouwer kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The long shot by Bert Hulsebos in the 95th minute really tested Herbert Spiljard's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The Arcen players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
