An unexpectedly hard shot by Mike Zeldenrust in the 3rd minute of play forced Uitwijk's goalkeeper Elco Fuchs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 8 minutes into the match, Uitwijk's goal looked a bit too open when Mike Zeldenrust came free, but Elco Fuchs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Joop Eschendaal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sjors Schophuis came free with the goalkeeper in the 18th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Niek Roodenburg could save by the left post. If Mike Zeldenrust had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Sjors Schophuis fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Uitwijk's protests and gave Sjors Schophuis a yellow card for diving instead. Niels Wagemakers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Niek Roodenburg made a huge save. Elco Fuchs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mike Zeldenrust, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Niels Wagemakers struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Niek Roodenburg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uitwijk. Maarten Roelofs hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Uitwijk's Dick Hofsteenge couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 44th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Rovert. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mike Zeldenrust in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Elco Fuchs saved Uitwijk from getting behind. 48 minutes into the game, Rovert's Henk-Jan van Bommel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Elco Fuchs made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The Uitwijk players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rovert were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joop Eschendaal to make the kick off. In the 54thth minute of the game Luuk Veltman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rovert's Niek Roodenburg was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Sjors Schophuis was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 56 minutes had been played. If Mike Zeldenrust had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Niek Roodenburg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niels Wagemakers, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. After a rather tough play, Rovert's Maarten Roelofs got a free kick in the 68th minute. Henk-Jan van Bommel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elco Fuchs having to interfere. If Niels Wagemakers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Rovert getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Maarten Roelofs hit a great ball. 84 minutes into the match, Rovert's goal looked a bit too open when Niels Wagemakers came free, but Niek Roodenburg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Koen Aelbrecht managed to get in a good position for a shot. Uitwijk's supporters rose to their feet, but Koen Aelbrecht was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Niek Roodenburg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Niels Wagemakers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mike Zeldenrust got free with Elco Fuchs in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 96 minutes into the match, Rovert's goal looked a bit too open when Niels Wagemakers came free, but Niek Roodenburg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Uitwijk getting a freekick after 98 minutes play. Dick Hofsteenge hit a great ball. If Henk-Jan van Bommel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Rovert supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rovert would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
