Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jeroen Schalkwijk got the match started through his kick off. The audience was convinced that Ruben Ostermann's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hans van Dessel was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. Fred Brugmans was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 12th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 19th minute, Chris Schoonbeek fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Huub Baatenburg, passed just outside the right post. When Hubert Bette fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Heemserveen's protests and gave Hubert Bette a yellow card for diving instead. Chris Schoonbeek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Huub Baatenburg having to interfere. In the 38th minute Chris Schoonbeek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Huub Baatenburg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 39 minutes, Nico-Jan van Zeggeren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Westbroek HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nico-Jan van Zeggeren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nico-Jan van Zeggeren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Huub Baatenburg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chris Schoonbeek in the 44th minute of the match. Hans van Dessel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruben Ostermann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hans van Dessel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeroen Schalkwijk, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Heemserveen's Huub Baatenburg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chris Schoonbeek in the 54th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Chris Schoonbeek in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Huub Baatenburg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tonny Platvoet kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Westbroek HC's Chris Schoonbeek got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 70th minute, one of Heemserveen:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Heemserveen. In the last second Hans van Dessel throw himself and got hold of the ball when Jeroen Schalkwijk in the 80thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Huub Baatenburg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chris Schoonbeek in the 85th minute of play. If Chris Schoonbeek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
