After 14 played minutes Chivas got a freekick which was hit by Jochem Wielens. Gerald Muskee showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arjen Abbekerk, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Coenraad Heije kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Gorsel FC were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Chivas's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nigel Dol took the corner. The corner led Gorsel FC's Jaap Buskes to fire away a dangerous shot which Gerald Muskee despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dick van Rijswijk in the 25th minute of play forced Gorsel FC's goalkeeper Gert Huiting to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 27 minutes, Boudewijn Middeljans managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chivas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Boudewijn Middeljans was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 28th minute, Boudewijn Middeljans ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gert Huiting was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Boudewijn Middeljans in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gert Huiting prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Boudewijn Middeljans struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Gert Huiting didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chivas. Dick van Rijswijk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Gert Huiting tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Boudewijn Middeljans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 44th minute Dick van Rijswijk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gert Huiting saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jaap Buskes's late challenge caught a Chivas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jaap Buskes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 47th minute, Jaap Buskes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Chivas's Coenraad Heije couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 48th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Gorsel FC. The Gorsel FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Chivas were winning 0-2.

If Boudewijn Middeljans had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Chivas booed when Gorsel FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Cramer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th minute of the match Coenraad Heije sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gert Huiting skillfully saved the ball. Dick van Rijswijk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gert Huiting having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jan Brouwers during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 63 played minutes Chivas got a freekick which was hit by Jan Brouwers.
