If Jhon Schalken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ben Ax sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cees Eising was out of position in the 18 minute of play, and Gerrie van Bommel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gerrie van Bommel really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Jacob Hofmeester hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Robbie Terpstra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Robbie Terpstra struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Koen van Boxel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC SURIBO. In a very dangerous position, a player in Helmond Sport fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! Jhon Schalken had several of the FC SURIBO's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 37 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-1 score and a disappointed Cees Eising as he didn't even see the shot coming. Cees Eising made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jhon Schalken in the 40th minute of play. If Jacob Hofmeester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, Gert Zevenberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jhon Schalken was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robbie Terpstra in the 56th minute of play forced Helmond Sport's goalkeeper Koen van Boxel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 59 minutes, Jhon Schalken managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Helmond Sport's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jhon Schalken was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cees Eising took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jhon Schalken, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC SURIBO's Marco Evenhuis managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Daniel Staal in the 69 minute of the game. When Jhon Schalken came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Helmond Sport fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jhon Schalken couldn't finish the play. In the 78th minute Gerrie van Bommel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cees Eising saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Harry Griemink took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cees Eising. Cees Eising dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Helmond Sport's Gerrie van Bommel got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Gerrie van Bommel came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Helmond Sport fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerrie van Bommel couldn't finish the play. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC SURIBO's goalkeeper Cees Eising, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Helmond Sport had played much better football throughout.
