Aaien's Harald Veenema played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luc Konterman in the 23rd minute of play. In the 24th minute Luc Konterman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harald Veenema saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aaien's Harald Veenema proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Aaien from getting a goal against them. In the 29th minute, Bruno Staal had to leave the field with a concussion. Gerjan Jol's late challenge caught a Mandela Voetbal Federatie's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berry Evers in the 48th minute of play forced Mandela Voetbal Federatie's goalkeeper Allard Heijen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Berry Evers made a kick off. If Klaas Jan Broekema had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. In the 71st match minute, Mandela Voetbal Federatie was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Brunt to maneuver through the defense. Izaak Heikens ran back to his position shaking his head. Mandela Voetbal Federatie's Allard Heijen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Berry Evers in the 90th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Aaien walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
