The audience was convinced that Rickard Hafström's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joeri Bulder was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Joeri Bulder came out of the goal and Rickard Hafström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joeri Bulder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rickard Hafström in the 31st minute of play. Joeri Bulder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cyrill Langenegger in the 33rd minute of the match. Rickard Hafström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Joeri Bulder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hub Molenaar took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joeri Bulder. Joeri Bulder dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Hub Molenaar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joeri Bulder having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 44th minute by Rogier Som got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Cyrill Langenegger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Joeri Bulder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The supporters of AFC Ajax Amsterdam booed when Varseveld S.V. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roland Kromkamp didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Kuys in the 60th minute of play forced Varseveld S.V.'s goalkeeper Joeri Bulder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fernando Kuys got free with Joeri Bulder in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Roland Kromkamp charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roland Kromkamp the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The crowd rose to their feet as AFC Ajax Amsterdam's Rickard Hafström slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joeri Bulder. That made the score 1-2 after 73 minutes of play. When the match was over AFC Ajax Amsterdam could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Varseveld S.V. throughout the match.
