Gooitzen de Jong came out of the goal and Wesley van der Schans tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gooitzen de Jong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wesley van der Schans in the 5th minute of play. Freek Bults's late challenge caught a Sleeuwijk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Freek Bults helped the player get up and apologised. In the 9th minute, Freek Bults hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Emmermeer HC's Pim Wiggers got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dennis Knuppel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Gooitzen de Jong tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Wesley van der Schans managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sleeuwijk's supporters rose to their feet, but Wesley van der Schans was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gooitzen de Jong breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Robert-Jan Zeydeveld could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Dolf Veenker made a huge save. After some careless play in the Sleeuwijk defense, Robert-Jan Zeydeveld kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dolf Veenker. The Sleeuwijk fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dolf Veenker should have stopped the shot. Wesley van der Schans received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. The supporters of Emmermeer HC booed when Sleeuwijk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michel Mol didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emmermeer HC were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Sleeuwijk's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Philip Jurjens took the corner. Dolf Veenker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pim Wiggers, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 62nd match minute, Emmermeer HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Freek Bults to maneuver through the defense. Freek Bults fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dolf Veenker having to interfere. Dolf Veenker showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert-Jan Zeydeveld, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. A hard shot by Tonnie Ooijer from long distance, 78 minutes into the match, got Gooitzen de Jong's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 83rd minute Robert-Jan Zeydeveld shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dolf Veenker saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
