The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Amsteleind got a freekick which was hit by Fabiën Ottens. In the 5th minute of the match Emiel Visser sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ron Oorschot skillfully saved the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leendert Buckinx during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Leendert Buckinx kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. With a little luck, Amsteleind's Ron Oorschot got control of the ball when Jan-Willem Westerhof tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 13th match minute, Amsteleind was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leendert Buckinx to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute, Fabiën Ottens hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jan-Willem Westerhof received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Ron Oorschot tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 29 minutes, Nico-Jan van Nistelrooij managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Amsteleind's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nico-Jan van Nistelrooij was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mario Penders fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roland Baars having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Nico-Jan van Nistelrooij got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 34 played minutes SC Kilimanjaro got a freekick which was hit by Tjeerd de Boer. Ron Oorschot made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jan-Willem Westerhof in the 45th minute. After having played for 46 minutes, Jan-Willem Westerhof managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Kilimanjaro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jan-Willem Westerhof was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Mario Penders made the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, SC Kilimanjaro's goalkeeper Roland Baars had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nico-Jan van Nistelrooij. Mario Penders was extremely unlucky when he, in the 56th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A collision led to SC Kilimanjaro getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Tjeerd de Boer hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mario Penders in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roland Baars prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ron Oorschot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theo Waesbergen in the 67th minute of the match. Mario Penders received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Roland Baars tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jan-Willem Westerhof sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 75th minute Mario Penders shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roland Baars saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amsteleind's Fabiën Ottens got his second yellow card of the match in the 76th minute. The referee ordered Fabiën Ottens off the ground. A collision led to Amsteleind getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Fabiën Ottens hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Amsteleind's zone, Jan-Willem Westerhof stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ron Oorschot came out of the goal and Jan-Willem Westerhof tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
