In the 16th minute, Jim Rinzema got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 19 minutes, Joris Meindert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hollum HC and the Poolland Excelsior players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 51st minute, Egbert Carels hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 55th minute Ger Baars suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Mario Staarman fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hollum HC's protests and gave Mario Staarman a yellow card for diving instead. Mario Staarman kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. If Auke Baars had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Mario Staarman came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Hollum HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mario Staarman couldn't finish the play. 74 minutes into the game, Auke Baars cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Marc Lemmen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Henry Hansma managed to get in a good position for a shot. Poolland Excelsior's supporters rose to their feet, but Henry Hansma was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marc Lemmen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Auke Baars recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Taco Mülder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kristian Boezem having to interfere. Kristian Boezem took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joris Meindert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A hard shot 84 in the game by Mario Staarman from a close distance when the talented Kristian Boezem managed to make a qualified save. Poolland Excelsior's players were relieved. Mario Staarman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mario Staarman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Kristian Boezem made a huge save. If Mario Staarman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joris Meindert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, Poolland Excelsior could leave the field as winners, despite Hollum HC having more of the ball for most of the match.
