In the 3rd minute, Arnold van Kempen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Folker Saenen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Timo Seedorf read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 4th minute of play. After 5 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Gerwin Valx. Folker Saenen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. In the 20th minute of the match Aad de Haan sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arne van Dam skillfully saved the ball. Huinerbroek's Arne van Dam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diderik Koning in the 21st minute of play. Timo Seedorf was a little too slow when Folker Saenen got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 25th minute. The score was now 1-0. Timo Seedorf showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Folker Saenen in the 28th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Folker Saenen in the 34th minute of play forced Manchester United's goalkeeper Timo Seedorf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 35 minutes, Folker Saenen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Huinerbroek's supporters crossed their fingers, but Folker Saenen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 37th minute, Arnold van Kempen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Manchester United's Jaap Waidijk got a free kick in the 41st minute. 47 minutes into the match, Huinerbroek's goal looked a bit too open when Diderik Koning came free, but Arne van Dam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Folker Saenen to make the kick off. In the 57th match minute, Huinerbroek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rudi Fleur to maneuver through the defense. Arne van Dam was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jens Roelofsen. After having played for 60 minutes, Jaap Waidijk managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jaap Waidijk was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kurt Mol during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 62nd match minute, Huinerbroek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kurt Mol to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Manchester United getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Co de Zwaan hit a great ball. If Folker Saenen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. Arne van Dam made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Jaap Waidijk sent off a good shot on target. After 85 minutes, Egbert Roswinkel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Manchester United and the Huinerbroek players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Huinerbroek booed when Manchester United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egbert Roswinkel didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Arnold van Kempen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Timo Seedorf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnold van Kempen in the 94th minute of play. After some careless play in the Manchester United defense, Arnold van Kempen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Timo Seedorf. The Manchester United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timo Seedorf should have stopped the shot.
