Gert Strobos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Corné Akkerman in the 22nd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oliver Geerds got free with Gert Strobos in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gert Roodenburg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leon Knops having to interfere. But to his dismay, Arno Ricksen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Corné Akkerman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
