The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carlo Koekkoek took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stephan Jol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlo Koekkoek was out of position in the 6 minute of play, and Stephan Jol capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Stephan Jol really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 14 minutes into the match, Coenraad Bernard notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Terzool V.V.'s Carel Colen. Carel Colen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oscar Zenden got free with Carlo Koekkoek in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ted Baalen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carel Colen having to interfere. The supporters of Amsterdam City booed when Terzool V.V. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guus Taalman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carel Colen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ted Baalen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Christijan Woering fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Terzool V.V.'s protests and gave Christijan Woering a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd match minute, Terzool V.V. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christijan Woering to maneuver through the defense. Mathijs Schmidt took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 33rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carel Colen. Terzool V.V.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Stephan Jol received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Carlo Koekkoek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stephan Jol to make the kick off. If Stephan Jol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stephan Jol recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stephan Jol in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlo Koekkoek prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Oscar Zenden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Carlo Koekkoek tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlo Koekkoek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stephan Jol in the 61st minute of the match. In the 62nd minute Coenraad Bernard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carel Colen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stephan Jol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Amsterdam City's Carlo Koekkoek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stephan Jol in the 66th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Amsterdam City's goal looked a bit too open when Stephan Jol came free, but Carlo Koekkoek reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Toni Bult kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stephan Jol in the 71st minute of play forced Amsterdam City's goalkeeper Carlo Koekkoek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Coenraad Bernard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carel Colen having to interfere. Carlo Koekkoek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stephan Jol in the 80th minute of play. Stephan Jol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Oscar Zenden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stephan Jol struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Carlo Koekkoek didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Terzool V.V.. Terzool V.V.'s Carel Colen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Terzool V.V. from getting a goal against them. Carel Colen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ted Baalen in the 93rd minute. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
