Jelle Pierewaaijer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sjaak Sibon in the 15th minute. In the 19th minute, Thomas Luirink hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Leon Hardering had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Leon Hardering to make the kick off. Leon Hardering fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jelle Pierewaaijer having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edwin Meurs during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 58 played minutes Moddergat HC got a freekick which was hit by Edwin Meurs. Leon Hardering blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jelle Pierewaaijer having to make a save. Leon Hardering received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Jelle Pierewaaijer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Reek Excelsior's goalkeeper Jelle Pierewaaijer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 80 minutes, Leon Hardering managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Moddergat HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leon Hardering was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Leon Hardering had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reek Excelsior's Jelle Pierewaaijer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leon Hardering in the 89th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bram de Ruijter got free with Vincent Rijkaard in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jelle Pierewaaijer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leon Hardering in the 97th minute of play. Reek Excelsior succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Moddergat HC had controlled the match.
