Stef Holten dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 27 minutes into the match, Sluitersveld's Jack Severijnse sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jelle Pierewaaijer narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Reek Excelsior getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Wesley Dam hit a great ball. Jelle Pierewaaijer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maikel Schrage, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bram de Ruijter blasted a shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stef Holten having to make a save. Albert Rodenboog's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stef Holten read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. The Sluitersveld players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Reek Excelsior were winning 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albert Rodenboog was the one to do the kick off. Bram de Ruijter who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 53rdth minute tested the skills of Stef Holten when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Stephan Zuidema received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Jelle Pierewaaijer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albert Rodenboog received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Stef Holten came out and tried to block the shot, but Albert Rodenboog slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 58th minute. Jelle Pierewaaijer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stephan Zuidema, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maurits Eefting's late challenge caught a Sluitersveld's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Maurits Eefting helped the player get up and apologised. In the 65th minute, Maurits Eefting hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the match, Reek Excelsior's Bram de Ruijter sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stef Holten narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Albert Rodenboog came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Reek Excelsior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albert Rodenboog couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Reek Excelsior's Thomas Luirink got a free kick in the 75th minute. Stef Holten showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albert Rodenboog, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Thomas Luirink kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Reek Excelsior's zone, Stephan Zuidema stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jelle Pierewaaijer came out of the goal and Stephan Zuidema tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Bas Ritsma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stephan Zuidema scored 1-2 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jelle Pierewaaijer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jelle Pierewaaijer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bas Ritsma in the 93rd minute of the match. If Bas Ritsma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Stephan Zuidema sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Reek Excelsior had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
