Gertjan Breinburg's late challenge caught a Respelhoek's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gertjan Breinburg helped the player get up and apologised. When Respelhoek's Denny Rodenberg in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Kievitsbraak S.V.'s goalie prevented a goal. Henk de Cock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Henny Abbekerk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Respelhoek booed when Kievitsbraak S.V. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gertjan Breinburg didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 29th minute of the match Arnout Kun shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Henny Abbekerk showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jelle Werner's late challenge caught a Respelhoek's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 31 played minutes Kievitsbraak S.V. got a freekick which was hit by Jelle Werner. 34 minutes into the match, Kievitsbraak S.V.'s goal looked a bit too open when Henk de Cock came free, but Henny Abbekerk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Kievitsbraak S.V. getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Jelle Werner hit a great ball. If Bruno Jansen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Stefan Oosterbaan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bertus Rueda hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 45 minutes into the match, Respelhoek's Bertus Rueda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Henny Abbekerk narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alwin Kremer might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ivo Hebels. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alwin Kremer ran back to his position shaking his head.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Denny Rodenberg was the one to do the kick off. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Daniël Ellerman took a quick shot and it went in 0-2 without a chance for Henny Abbekerk to make any attempt to save it. Respelhoek's Denny Rodenberg got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 60th match minute, Respelhoek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denny Rodenberg to maneuver through the defense. If Bruno Jansen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Bertus Rueda was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 65 minutes had been played. A collision led to Respelhoek getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Bertus Rueda hit a great ball. A hard, long distance shot from Mathieu Luijpers flew over the goal. After 70th play minutes Bruno Jansen shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Ivo Hebels and just under the crossbar into goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Denny Rodenberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Respelhoek's supporters rose to their feet, but Denny Rodenberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henny Abbekerk breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 78 played minutes Kievitsbraak S.V. got a freekick which was hit by Mathieu Luijpers. After 83 played minutes Respelhoek got a freekick which was hit by Denny Rodenberg. Ivo Hebels showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bruno Jansen in the 89th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruno Jansen in the 90th minute of play forced Respelhoek's goalkeeper Ivo Hebels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Stefan Oosterbaan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivo Hebels was relentless in the 96th minute of the game.
