After some careless play in the WILLEM II TILBURG defense, Simon Zondervan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bob Schalkwijk. The WILLEM II TILBURG fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bob Schalkwijk should have stopped the shot. Marin Cristea could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Donald Rogaars made a huge save. Jan-Peter Mastebroek succeeded in the game's 14th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. Bob Schalkwijk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Simon Zondervan in the 19th minute of play. Donald Rogaars was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Mustafa Kamver showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 22 minute of play. Tymoteusz Kaczor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald Rogaars having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Marin Cristea notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Chelsea's Donald Rogaars. Donald Rogaars was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 40 minutes into the match, WILLEM II TILBURG's goal looked a bit too open when Jan-Peter Mastebroek came free, but Bob Schalkwijk reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of WILLEM II TILBURG booed when Chelsea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Job Heeringa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 47 played minutes WILLEM II TILBURG got a freekick which was hit by Elbert Bos. Ivo Perk took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 49th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bob Schalkwijk. WILLEM II TILBURG's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.

Simon Zondervan hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mustafa Kamver in the 55th minute of play forced Chelsea's goalkeeper Donald Rogaars to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of WILLEM II TILBURG booed when Chelsea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Theo Wensing didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jan-Peter Mastebroek's late challenge caught a WILLEM II TILBURG's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jan-Peter Mastebroek helped the player get up and apologised. In the 60th minute, Jan-Peter Mastebroek hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. WILLEM II TILBURG's Tymoteusz Kaczor got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marin Cristea in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Donald Rogaars prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bob Schalkwijk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simon Zondervan, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Chelsea's Jan-Peter Mastebroek got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tymoteusz Kaczor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Marin Cristea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When WILLEM II TILBURG's Marin Cristea in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chelsea's goalie prevented a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Job Heeringa during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 85 minutes into the game, one of Chelsea:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 87th minute there was a penalty for WILLEM II TILBURG. Marin Cristea stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Donald Rogaars. 3-2. After 97 played minutes Chelsea got a freekick which was hit by Job Heeringa. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the WILLEM II TILBURG players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
