Jaap Ooijer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jelte Bömker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 11 played minutes Vlotbrug Excelsior got a freekick which was hit by Theo Oorthuis. An unexpectedly hard shot by Foeke Popping in the 12th minute of play forced Vlotbrug Excelsior's goalkeeper Robert Hauvers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jelte Bömker got free with Robert Hauvers in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jelte Bömker in the 21stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Robert Hauvers, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jelte Bömker came free with the goalkeeper in the 23rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Robert Hauvers could save by the left post. Jelte Bömker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robert Hauvers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 26th minute of play. Doornakkers's Jelte Bömker got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, Foeke Popping got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Foeke Popping struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Robert Hauvers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Doornakkers. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vlotbrug Excelsior's goalkeeper Robert Hauvers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Ferry Niekamp made the kick off in the second half. Robert Hauvers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jelte Bömker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Doornakkers getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Menno Roorda hit a great ball. Doornakkers's Jan-Peter Rolink got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marnix Tonnis made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Jaap Ooijer sent off a good shot on target. When Kenneth Heerspink fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vlotbrug Excelsior's protests and gave Kenneth Heerspink a yellow card for diving instead. In the 65th match minute, Vlotbrug Excelsior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenneth Heerspink to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute, Jelte Bömker got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jelte Bömker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Robert Hauvers tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 87 played minutes, Doornakkers's Billy Rutgers shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Robert Hauvers came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Doornakkers reached it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jelte Bömker in the 88th minute of play forced Vlotbrug Excelsior's goalkeeper Robert Hauvers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Doornakkers's Marnix Tonnis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferry Niekamp in the 93rd minute of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
