Pieter Scheer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pieter Plaggenborg, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cees Ooijer in the 13th minute of play forced Wemmenhove's goalkeeper Auke Cruijff to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Auke Cruijff made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cees Ooijer in the 16th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Mean Machine's zone, Pieter Plaggenborg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pieter Scheer came out of the goal and Pieter Plaggenborg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jean-Paul Dam kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. After 28 played minutes Wemmenhove got a freekick which was hit by Jan Wesveld. Wemmenhove's Auke Cruijff played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cees Ooijer in the 29th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jan Haken in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pieter Scheer prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ferdi Batum kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mathieu Mik during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee gave Wemmenhove a penalty, 41 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jean-Paul Dam, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Mean Machine's Pieter Scheer. 0-1. Mathieu Mik got his second yellow card in the match during the 45th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 44th minute of the game. One of Mean Machine:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Wemmenhove:s goal. Jean-Paul Dam placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The supporters of Mean Machine booed when Wemmenhove was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eric Vondel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boudewijn Venema struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Auke Cruijff didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mean Machine. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jan Haken during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 69th minute, Jan Haken hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jan Haken fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pieter Scheer having to interfere. Wemmenhove's Pieter Plaggenborg got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 79th match minute, Mean Machine was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Riemer Bulder to maneuver through the defense. 80 minutes into the match, Mean Machine's goalkeeper Pieter Scheer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jean-Paul Dam. Pieter Scheer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Haken, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pieter Plaggenborg's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Pieter Scheer firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 86th minute, Boudewijn Venema left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Mean Machine fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. In the 94th minute Boudewijn Venema shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Auke Cruijff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Serge Bouwens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wemmenhove's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
