Seating: 1815, VIP seats: 140) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Boukjan Bronkhorst kicked off to start the match. A collision led to Delft getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Henry Saveneij hit a great ball. Ivo Alkema stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jean-Paul Dirks's shot from short distance in the 3rd minute. After 7 minutes of play, Sopsum FC's Jean-Paul Dirks made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ivo Alkema was left in no man's land by his defense there! A hard shot 12 in the game by Wilfred Zwarthoet from a close distance when the talented Ivo Alkema managed to make a qualified save. Delft's players were relieved. Thanks to some nice moves Wilfred Zwarthoet could shoot a difficult shot in the 13th minute, which Ivo Alkema however easily saved by the left post. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Wilfred Zwarthoet put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ivo Alkema. In the 19th match minute, Delft was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geale van Zeist to maneuver through the defense. Ivo Alkema didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jean-Paul Dirks went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. With splendid footwork Jean-Paul Dirks arrived in front of goal to shoot 4-0 by the left pole in the game's 24th minute. Wilfred Zwarthoet took the ball and in the 29 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ivo Alkema. Ivo Alkema dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Sopsum FC's Jean-Paul Dirks in the 34th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Ivo Alkema was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Delft through an amazing save. After 37 played minutes Sopsum FC got a freekick which was hit by Maurits Mueller. Ivo Alkema made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean-Paul Dirks in the 41st minute of play. When Henry Saveneij came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Delft fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henry Saveneij couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Koeling in the 46th minute of play forced Sopsum FC's goalkeeper Cor Wiarda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th match minute, Sopsum FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Godfried Bartele to maneuver through the defense. Cor Wiarda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeroen van Zwieten, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jean-Paul Dirks to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Wilfred Zwarthoet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean-Paul Dirks fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivo Alkema having to interfere. 59 minutes into the match, Wilfred Zwarthoet had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivo Alkema. Delft's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wilfred Zwarthoet was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. When Steve Wander came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Delft fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Steve Wander couldn't finish the play. Ivo Alkema came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Sopsum FC's Jean-Paul Dirks. But to his dismay, Jean-Paul Dirks quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. 69 minutes into the game, Jean-Paul Dirks cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Ivo Alkema was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ivo Alkema made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean-Paul Dirks in the 74th minute of play. Delft's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Maurits Mueller ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Maurits Mueller almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Delft's Ivo Alkema did a great save. Cor Wiarda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boukjan Bronkhorst in the 83rd minute of play. Jean-Paul Dirks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jan Brinks was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 93 minutes into the match. After 92 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Delft!
