Spectators: 8051 (Terracing: 6039, Seating: 1852, VIP seats: 160) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Edgar Degens kicked off to start the match. Giel Jorna came free with the goalkeeper in the 4th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jacco Heesen could save by the left post. Jacco Heesen made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Giel Jorna sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Giel Jorna got free with Jacco Heesen in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jacco Heesen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcel Kauffeld, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olof Wesseling recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 22 minutes into the game, Stefano Zaagman was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. v.v. Surhuisterveen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Young Boys Enschede the free kick. After 23 played minutes v.v. Surhuisterveen got a freekick which was hit by Stefano Zaagman. In the 26th match minute, Young Boys Enschede was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harmen Scheffer to maneuver through the defense. 28 minutes into the match, Giel Jorna notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Young Boys Enschede's Jacco Heesen. Jacco Heesen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jacco Heesen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcel Kauffeld in the 31st minute of the match. Harmen Scheffer charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Harmen Scheffer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 43 played minutes Young Boys Enschede got a freekick which was hit by Harmen Scheffer. Jacco Heesen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcel Kauffeld, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Marcel Kauffeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacco Heesen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mitchell Hilkes went, in the 50th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Marcel Kauffeld made the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute, Olof Wesseling ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Teo Ensing was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 63rd minute Edgar Degens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Teo Ensing saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 65th minute Marcel Kauffeld shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacco Heesen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Young Boys Enschede's Olof Wesseling got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giel Jorna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Young Boys Enschede's Jacco Heesen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giel Jorna in the 80th minute of play. If Marcel Kauffeld had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Steve Bergmeester during the 86th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 87th minute, Steve Bergmeester hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Giel Jorna came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the v.v. Surhuisterveen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giel Jorna couldn't finish the play. In the 94th match minute, Young Boys Enschede was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robin Mos to maneuver through the defense. Theo Soer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 100 minutes of play, v.v. Surhuisterveen's Marcel Kauffeld made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jacco Heesen was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The v.v. Surhuisterveen fans cheered their team off the field, for while Young Boys Enschede had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
