To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 20 minutes into the match, Eintracht Schultenbräu's goalkeeper Henk van Rhijn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Christijan Hagenouw. After some careless play in the Valkenberg defense, Mark Brans kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eddy Steyns. The Valkenberg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eddy Steyns should have stopped the shot. In the 27thth minute of the game Mark Brans who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Valkenberg's Eddy Steyns was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Eddy Steyns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacob Pedriza, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. With his leg Henk van Rhijn managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Valkenberg's Christijan Hagenouw fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Henk van Rhijn stood somewhat misplaced when Christijan Hagenouw came free in front of goal and shot 2-1 to the left of him in the 35 minute. Christijan Hagenouw could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Henk van Rhijn made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Urbes Palencia got free with Henk van Rhijn in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
