After 3 played minutes Viko got a freekick which was hit by Ferdi Scheer. A collision led to Houtendoel getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Stef Pruischer hit a great ball. Viko's Ferdi Engbers got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arjen Das recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 17th minute, Houtendoel's Martin Savenije seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Martin Savenije the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Houtendoel protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Martin Savenije had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee gave Viko a penalty, 19 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ferdi Scheer, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Houtendoel's Sören Bachmeier. 0-1. When Viko's Ferdi Engbers in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Houtendoel's goalie prevented a goal. Ferdi Engbers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Per-Erik Ekeroth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Auke van Wonderen charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Auke van Wonderen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Viko's Auke van Wonderen got a free kick in the 30th minute. Kryspin Weyna recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 33rd minute, Per-Erik Ekeroth got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 36thth minute of the game Per-Erik Ekeroth who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Viko's Bill Korfs was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bill Korfs was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Kryspin Weyna capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kryspin Weyna really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After 42 played minutes Viko got a freekick which was hit by Gijs Bot. 43 minutes into the match, Houtendoel's Kryspin Weyna broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Henk Bogarde sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Per-Erik Ekeroth stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sören Bachmeier made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Ferdi Engbers sent off a good shot on target. After 59 minutes of play Viko's Ferdi Scheer was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Ferdi Scheer hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Viko's attack was well implemented in the 63rd minute, but when Auke van Wonderen was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. Kryspin Weyna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Korfs having to interfere. Bill Korfs made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kryspin Weyna in the 73rd minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, Viko's goal looked a bit too open when Per-Erik Ekeroth came free, but Bill Korfs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Houtendoel's Sören Bachmeier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Houtendoel from getting a goal against them. Kryspin Weyna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bill Korfs having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kryspin Weyna in the 89th minute of play forced Viko's goalkeeper Bill Korfs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfred Luikens missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 94 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Bill Korfs right hand side. Viko were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
