In the 5th minute, FC Bakbeest's Franck Akkerman ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luc Cales. Luc Cales yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. If Folker Zoetebier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Watergang HC's Luc Cales proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Watergang HC from getting a goal against them. In the 14th minute Emiel van Kampen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Cales saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the match, Emiel van Kampen dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Luc Cales, 3-0. After 23 played minutes FC Bakbeest got a freekick which was hit by Jelte Nieuwburg. A collision led to FC Bakbeest getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Donny Hoogsteen hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Niek Ter managed to get in a good position for a shot. Watergang HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Niek Ter was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rafael Rijkaard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rafael Rijkaard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerrit Hoving, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Watergang HC's Berend Waesbergen got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 36th minute Pierre Boeve shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafael Rijkaard saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jelte Nieuwburg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Luc Cales made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Folker Zoetebier stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Folker Zoetebier cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Luc Cales was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 56th match minute, Watergang HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sjoerd Meurs to maneuver through the defense. Rafael Rijkaard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niek Ter, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. FC Bakbeest's Rafael Rijkaard proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save FC Bakbeest from getting a goal against them. Freek Höhenstein hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Niek Ter in the 69th minute of play forced FC Bakbeest's goalkeeper Rafael Rijkaard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luc Cales came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by FC Bakbeest's Jelte Nieuwburg. But to his dismay, Jelte Nieuwburg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Rafael Rijkaard made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gerrit Hoving in the 77th minute. Watergang HC's Luc Cales played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Folker Zoetebier in the 78th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Folker Zoetebier in the 82nd minute of play forced Watergang HC's goalkeeper Luc Cales to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Bakbeest's Emiel van Kampen got a free kick in the 83rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pierre Boeve got free with Rafael Rijkaard in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gerben Senden's late challenge caught a Watergang HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gerben Senden helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to FC Bakbeest getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Gerben Senden hit a great ball. Gerrit Hoving blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rafael Rijkaard having to make a save. Jelte Nieuwburg struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Luc Cales didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Bakbeest. FC Bakbeest's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
