In the 15th minute, Taco Koole made a precise shot to the right of Luc Cales. Watergang HC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. A collision led to Watergang HC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Han Steffens hit a great ball. When the match had gone on for 22 minutes, Frits Degens took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Luc Cales to make any attempt to save it. Roderick Westerink hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After 27 played minutes, Watergang HC's Marco Tinselboer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dimitrie Buring came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Watergang HC reached it. Watergang HC's Gerrit Hoving got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marco Tinselboer lost his temper 30 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 30th minute of the game. One of Watergang HC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vitesse:s goal. The referee gave Vitesse a penalty, 32 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Pieter Van Dock, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Watergang HC's Luc Cales. 4-0. Roderick Westerink hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 36th minute, Gerrit Hoving got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Gerrit Hoving came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Watergang HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerrit Hoving couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Watergang HC's Luc Cales got control of the ball when Szczepan Zagrobelny tried to sneak it across the goal line. 41 minutes into the match, Watergang HC's Gerrit Hoving sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dimitrie Buring narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 43 minutes, Gerrit Hoving managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Watergang HC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gerrit Hoving was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Vitesse booed when Watergang HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niek Ter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luc Cales showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Auke Aukes, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frits Degens made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Vitesse's Taco Koole sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luc Cales narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 53rd minute Frits Degens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Cales saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luc Cales made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frits Degens in the 68th minute of play. 70 minutes into the match, Watergang HC's goal looked a bit too open when Taco Koole came free, but Luc Cales reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes into the game, Taco Koole cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Luc Cales was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gerrit Hoving kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frits Degens in the 76th minute of play forced Watergang HC's goalkeeper Luc Cales to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luc Cales took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Taco Koole, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88th minute, Taco Koole left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Vitesse fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Gerrit Hoving managed to get in a good position for a shot. Watergang HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerrit Hoving was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dimitrie Buring breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Vitesse had played much better football throughout.
