Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5875, Seating: 1575, VIP seats: 50) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Mathieu Evans kicked off to start the match. After some careless play in the van Basten defense, Henk Brons kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Theo de Mol. The van Basten fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Theo de Mol should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Henk Brons managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stadsfenne's supporters rose to their feet, but Henk Brons was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Theo de Mol breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 11 minutes into the match, Stadsfenne's goal looked a bit too open when Douwe Schimmel came free, but Bartlomiej Cichocki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Silvio Fliz received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Theo de Mol came out and tried to block the shot, but Silvio Fliz slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 14th minute. After having played for 19 minutes, Henk Brons managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stadsfenne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henk Brons was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henk Brons during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. van Basten's Theo de Mol played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Twan Dekker in the 25th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Pim Stigt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. van Basten's Theo de Mol proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save van Basten from getting a goal against them. After 29 minutes, Frank Buskes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the van Basten and the Stadsfenne players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 29th minute, Frank Buskes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Henk Brons received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Theo de Mol tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Twan Dekker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Theo de Mol made a huge save. In the 34th minute, Mathieu Evans had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. After 34 minutes, Rafael Sandstra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stadsfenne and the van Basten players grew even worse after the yellow card. Henk Brons could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Theo de Mol made a huge save. van Basten's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Twan Dekker scored to the left of an out of position Theo de Mol, making the score, 3-0. In the 45th match minute, van Basten was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Douwe Schimmel to maneuver through the defense. Theo de Mol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Twan Dekker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Henk Brons to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in van Basten's zone, Silvio Fliz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Theo de Mol came out of the goal and Silvio Fliz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Stadsfenne booed when van Basten was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bram Klerk didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 55 played minutes, Stadsfenne's Silvio Fliz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Theo de Mol came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Stadsfenne reached it. Theo de Mol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henk Brons in the 59th minute of play. Rafael Sandstra was shown his second yellow card after 62 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Stadsfenne getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Rafael Sandstra hit a great ball. Twan Dekker might have been able to make a better finish in the 70th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Theo de Mol. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Twan Dekker ran back to his position shaking his head. Stadsfenne's Twan Dekker got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 74 minutes into the match, Stadsfenne's goalkeeper Bartlomiej Cichocki had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Douwe Schimmel. Bartlomiej Cichocki made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Douwe Schimmel sent off a good shot on target. After 79 minutes, Geert Dongen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Stadsfenne and the van Basten players grew even worse after the yellow card. Geert Dongen kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Theo de Mol took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Twan Dekker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Twan Dekker took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Theo de Mol. Theo de Mol dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0.
