The referee ignored Engwerd's protests and gave Robbie Zandstra a yellow card for diving instead. Otto Heuvel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Rudi Huiting tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Engwerd's Robbie Zandstra got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Falco Carel kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 15th minute of the match, Pascall van der Meijde got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tjeerd de Freitas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Pascall van der Meijde scored 1-0 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tjeerd de Freitas, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Engwerd's Rudi Huiting played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Klaas Grijpstra in the 26th minute of play. Pascall van der Meijde who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Tjeerd de Freitas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Victor Plenter kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Pascall van der Meijde struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Tjeerd de Freitas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Engwerd. Tjeerd de Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robbie Zandstra in the 34th minute of play. If Pascall van der Meijde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tjeerd de Freitas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robbie Zandstra, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 48th match minute, Engwerd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robbie Zandstra to maneuver through the defense. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jim Aelbrecht in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tjeerd de Freitas saved FC Killer Elite from getting behind. The supporters of FC Killer Elite booed when Engwerd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jim Aelbrecht didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 58 minutes, Otto Heuvel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Killer Elite's supporters crossed their fingers, but Otto Heuvel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bob Karelse could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Rudi Huiting made a huge save. When Reinhard Zuidema fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. One of Engwerd:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC Killer Elite:s goal. Victor Plenter shot the penalty kick right outside the post. After 74 played minutes FC Killer Elite got a freekick which was hit by Foeke Bouma. 75 minutes into the match, Engwerd's Jim Aelbrecht sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tjeerd de Freitas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 77 minutes, Otto Heuvel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Killer Elite and the Engwerd players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 77 played minutes FC Killer Elite got a freekick which was hit by Otto Heuvel. Jim Aelbrecht received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Otto Heuvel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rudi Huiting having to interfere. A collision led to FC Killer Elite getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Lukas Harmannus hit a great ball. Engwerd's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
