Spectators: 7961 (Terracing: 5972, Seating: 1831, VIP seats: 158) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Roderick Brandsma started the match with the kick off. If Huib Heitinga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 11th minute Roderick Brandsma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Smeekes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Huib Heitinga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Klaus van Veldhuizen having to interfere. A collision led to Bieshaar getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Jan Caluwé hit a great ball. 25 minutes into the game, Remco Roetering was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bieshaar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zijlberg the free kick. Remco Roetering kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Roderick Brandsma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 29 played minutes Lennart Bogaard rounded Zijlberg's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. In the 32nd minute, Zijlberg's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Huib Heitinga fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The supporters of Zijlberg booed when Bieshaar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jan Caluwé didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lennart Bogaard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Klaus van Veldhuizen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Jan Caluwé came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Bieshaar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jan Caluwé couldn't finish the play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 46 minutes into the game, when Jan Caluwé put in a rough tackle. After a rather tough play, Bieshaar's Jan Caluwé got a free kick in the 47th minute. Maurice Lyesen struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Paul Smeekes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zijlberg. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Huib Heitinga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute, Huib Heitinga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paul Smeekes made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Hans Hoogenkamp sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Bieshaar's zone, Hans Hoogenkamp stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paul Smeekes came out of the goal and Hans Hoogenkamp tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 73 minutes into the match, Zijlberg's Hans Hoogenkamp sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paul Smeekes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Bieshaar's Lennart Bogaard got a free kick in the 79th minute. When Huib Heitinga fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bieshaar's protests and gave Huib Heitinga a yellow card for diving instead. Paul Smeekes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roderick Brandsma in the 93rd minute of the match. Bieshaar were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Zijlberg to leave the ground with a draw.
