After 21 minutes, Gilbert Seinstra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GWMD and the Wessingen SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Benjamin Ierlandt was a little too slow when Florian Drent got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marinus Dolfing to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Mart Zwaanswijk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Marinus Dolfing managed to get in a good position for a shot. GWMD's supporters rose to their feet, but Marinus Dolfing was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dirk Rijkaard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. GWMD's Benjamin Ierlandt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gijs Klijnstra in the 58th minute of play. Dirk Rijkaard didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mart Zwaanswijk went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Dirk Rijkaard made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Mart Zwaanswijk sent off a good shot on target. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marinus Dolfing in the 66th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dirk Rijkaard saved Wessingen SC from getting behind. After some careless play in the Wessingen SC defense, Henk den Hertogh kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dirk Rijkaard. The Wessingen SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dirk Rijkaard should have stopped the shot. Henk den Hertogh blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dirk Rijkaard having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijs Klijnstra in the 74th minute of play forced GWMD's goalkeeper Benjamin Ierlandt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Henk den Hertogh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dirk Rijkaard having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Marinus Dolfing took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Dirk Rijkaard to make any attempt to save it. 80 minutes into the match, Mart Zwaanswijk had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dirk Rijkaard. Wessingen SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mart Zwaanswijk was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. In the 85th minute, GWMD's Henk den Hertogh dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-6. After some careless play in the GWMD defense, Florian Drent kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benjamin Ierlandt. The GWMD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benjamin Ierlandt should have stopped the shot. Joeri Rieks struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Benjamin Ierlandt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wessingen SC. Benjamin Ierlandt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florian Drent, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. 96 minutes into the match, GWMD's goal looked a bit too open when Joeri Rieks came free, but Benjamin Ierlandt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. GWMD played a much better game than Wessingen SC and deserved their victory. The Wessingen SC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
