In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Vitesse Arnhem's goalkeeper Hans Kok, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 46th minute Remond Luikens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hans Kok saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Vitesse Arnhem players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sporting Skoekeloen were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Roger Enzing made a kick off.
