Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Eddy Berendt took the kick off in the first half of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eddy Berendt in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cobus de Haan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Herksen's zone, Daniël van Dalfsen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cobus de Haan came out of the goal and Daniël van Dalfsen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cobus de Haan made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Daniël van Dalfsen sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eddy Berendt in the 9th minute of play forced Herksen's goalkeeper Cobus de Haan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniël van Dalfsen got free with Cobus de Haan in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Harm Meerdink received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Adriaan Smit tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Herksen's Cobus de Haan got control of the ball when Ivo Scholte tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee ignored Herksen's protests and gave Harmen Bender a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes Herksen got a freekick which was hit by Harmen Bender. Harm Meerdink might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adriaan Smit. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Harm Meerdink ran back to his position shaking his head. 29 minutes into the game, Boudewijn Roodenburg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Poonhaven's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Herksen the free kick. After a rather tough play, Poonhaven's Boudewijn Roodenburg got a free kick in the 29th minute. Stefan Kostermans sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 42 played minutes Herksen got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinant Broers. Olaf Verheije kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Harm Meerdink made a kick off. When Eddy Berendt came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Poonhaven fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eddy Berendt couldn't finish the play. Daniël van Dalfsen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cobus de Haan having to interfere. Poonhaven's Daniël van Dalfsen got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 76 minutes into the match, Herksen's goal looked a bit too open when Daniël van Dalfsen came free, but Cobus de Haan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Harm Meerdink came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Herksen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Harm Meerdink couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Poonhaven getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Boudewijn Roodenburg hit a great ball. If Eddy Berendt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cobus de Haan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eddy Berendt, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After 90 minutes Herksen's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ivo Scholte who took care of the corner kick. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Poonhaven had won after a very even match.
