Cobus de Haan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frans Rademaker in the 4th minute of play. Frans Rademaker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cobus de Haan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Herksen fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 11th minute. Penalty! Herksen:s Cobus de Haan showed great skill when he stopped Daan Mos:s penalty. Cobus de Haan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daan Mos went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Koos Kloppenburg kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After 22 played minutes Herksen got a freekick which was hit by Ferdinant Broers. Herksen's Cobus de Haan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Herksen from getting a goal against them. If Olaf Verheije had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bergeijk's Ernst Stekelenburg got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Olaf Verheije fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Herksen's protests and gave Olaf Verheije a yellow card for diving instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frans Rademaker was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Herksen's Stefan Hilbrands got a free kick in the 51st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frans Rademaker in the 53rd minute of play forced Herksen's goalkeeper Cobus de Haan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frans Rademaker in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cobus de Haan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bergeijk's Frans Rademaker got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cobus de Haan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rick Germs in the 60th minute of the match. Bergeijk's defense didn't have a chance, in the 63rd minute, when Ferdinant Broers scored to the left of an out of position Berry Blanc, making the score, 1-1. If Leendert Oldenborger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rick Germs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Cobus de Haan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Berry Blanc made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stefan Kostermans in the 77th minute. In the 78th minute, Daan Mos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Bergeijk's Berry Blanc got control of the ball when Stefan Kostermans tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Frans Rademaker's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cobus de Haan was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game. Stefan Kostermans who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 84thth minute tested the skills of Berry Blanc when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Cobus de Haan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frans Rademaker in the 85th minute of the match. 86 minutes into the game, Ernst Stekelenburg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bergeijk's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Herksen the free kick. After 86 played minutes Bergeijk got a freekick which was hit by Ernst Stekelenburg. 1-2 became the score in the 92nd minute when Stefan Kostermans elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Although Bergeijk had been in control for most of the match, Herksen still came away with the win.
