MVV Maastricht's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Maarten Colen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Zé Pedro Mandrak made a huge save. The MVV Maastricht players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Saleen were winning 0-3.

Through an outstanding action, after 75 minutes, Dean Verbruggen successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Dean Verbruggen came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Saleen's Erik van Harten. But to his dismay, Erik van Harten quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. Erik van Harten might have been able to make a better finish in the 81st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dean Verbruggen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Erik van Harten ran back to his position shaking his head. 84 minutes into the game, Martien Zoetmulder was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Saleen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave MVV Maastricht the free kick. Martien Zoetmulder hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match.
