After 38 minutes, Martijn Makaay made it 0-9 with a short kick to the right side. PSV Eindhoven's Alwin Baatenburg tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The PSV Eindhoven fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alwin Baatenburg should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-10 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Theo Tevreden made a kick off. Alwin Baatenburg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dick Egberts, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 53rd minute Martijn Makaay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alwin Baatenburg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 66 minutes, Martijn Makaay put it in 0-15 from a short distance just to the right of Alwin Baatenburg. With an all-out effort, AC Pitt Bier's Alwin Baatenburg threw himself towards the right post 68 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Martijn Makaay, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 70 minutes had been played when some careless play by PSV Eindhoven's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Alwin Baatenburg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jan-Åke Fransson in the 85th minute of play. PSV Eindhoven's Alwin Baatenburg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan-Åke Fransson in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute, AC Pitt Bier's Stefan Pieters dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-19. 90 minutes into the match, Stefan Pieters notched a goal, 0-20, to the right of PSV Eindhoven's Alwin Baatenburg. Alwin Baatenburg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Stefan Pieters succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-21 in the 94th playminute.
