With a couple of smart ball manuevers Martijn Makaay in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jaap van der Schans saved Westenenk from getting behind. Martijn Makaay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Jaap van der Schans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Westenenk were awarded a corner in the 39th minute after AC Pitt Bier's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Eddy van den Eede took the corner. Mathieu Hilbrands hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Valio Tammisto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, AC Pitt Bier's Jaap van der Schans threw himself towards the right post 53 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Martijn Makaay, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stefan Pieters got free with Jaap van der Schans in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
