Martijn Klaasens took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Harold Degens. Harold Degens dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. The supporters of Budapest United booed when Dongenvaart was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wessel Oosterveld didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 11th minute, Rick Driel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 12 minutes into the match, Dongenvaart's goal looked a bit too open when Peter van Gaal came free, but Harold Degens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Budapest United defense, Johan Grasmaaijer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christodoulos Moscholidis. The Budapest United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christodoulos Moscholidis should have stopped the shot. Harold Degens showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hugo Haas, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. 24 minutes into the game, Erwin Lever was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Dongenvaart's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Budapest United the free kick. After 24 played minutes Dongenvaart got a freekick which was hit by Erwin Lever. After 25 played minutes, Budapest United's Anton Zadelhoff shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Harold Degens came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Budapest United reached it. Rick Driel scored 1-2 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Christodoulos Moscholidis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 29th minute Johan Grasmaaijer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christodoulos Moscholidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evripidis Stabouloglou struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Harold Degens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Budapest United. After a rather tough play, Dongenvaart's Rick Driel got a free kick in the 34th minute. Martijn Klaasens scored 2-2 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Harold Degens, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 45 minutes into the game, Arne van den Eede was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. In the 45th match minute, Dongenvaart was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arne van den Eede to maneuver through the defense. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Dongenvaart's Harold Degens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter van Gaal in the 51st minute of play. In the 57th minute Hugo Haas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harold Degens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Budapest United's Christodoulos Moscholidis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Budapest United from getting a goal against them. 60 minutes had been played when some careless play by Budapest United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ronald Kinear was slow to take the kick. During this time Dongenvaart's players had a chance to rest. Marick Salens succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-3 in the 65th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martijn Klaasens in the 70th minute of play forced Dongenvaart's goalkeeper Harold Degens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Harold Degens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martijn Klaasens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Budapest United's Geale Ijkwezen was substituted for Peter van Gaal. In the 90th match minute, Budapest United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olaf Korevaar to maneuver through the defense. For all the effort they put into the match, the Dongenvaart players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Budapest United.
