An unexpectedly hard shot by Coos Collins in the 12th minute of play forced Budapest United's goalkeeper Christodoulos Moscholidis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Evripidis Stabouloglou kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nick Need. That made the score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. After a rather tough play, Oranjú FC's Serge Das got a free kick in the 24th minute. The supporters of Oranjú FC booed when Budapest United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anton Zadelhoff didn't get a good kick on the ball. Coos Collins took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 27th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Christodoulos Moscholidis. Budapest United's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Serge Das received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Christodoulos Moscholidis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Budapest United's zone, Mickael van Zeggeren stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christodoulos Moscholidis came out of the goal and Mickael van Zeggeren tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Budapest United's Evripidis Stabouloglou got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice moves Evripidis Stabouloglou could shoot a difficult shot in the 44th minute, which Nick Need however easily saved by the left post. With a little luck, Oranjú FC's Nick Need got control of the ball when Evripidis Stabouloglou tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 47 minutes, Johan Dijkstra mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Oranjú FC and the Budapest United players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Oranjú FC getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Johan Dijkstra hit a great ball. In the 49th minute, Anton Zadelhoff fired a really elegant long shot, but Nick Need threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Victor Gronden made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Budapest United defense, Victor Gronden kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christodoulos Moscholidis. The Budapest United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christodoulos Moscholidis should have stopped the shot. Evripidis Stabouloglou recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Victor Gronden who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 62ndth minute tested the skills of Christodoulos Moscholidis when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Oranjú FC's zone, Evripidis Stabouloglou stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nick Need came out of the goal and Evripidis Stabouloglou tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match clock showed 65 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Evripidis Stabouloglou sped through Oranjú FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nick Need. Victor Gronden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Christodoulos Moscholidis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nick Need took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Folker de Winter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter van Gaal in the 77th minute of play forced Oranjú FC's goalkeeper Nick Need to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 79 played minutes Oranjú FC got a freekick which was hit by Gert van Zomeren. 86 minutes into the match, Oranjú FC's Victor Gronden sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Christodoulos Moscholidis narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Mickael van Zeggeren took a quick shot and it went in 3-2 without a chance for Christodoulos Moscholidis to make any attempt to save it. 95 minutes into the match, Oranjú FC's goal looked a bit too open when Evripidis Stabouloglou came free, but Nick Need reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
