After a rather tough play, Vendra F.C.'s Mark Snider got a free kick in the 7th minute. Charles Duca struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Etienne Cutajar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Birkirkara FC. Vendra F.C.'s Etienne Cutajar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacob Mifsud in the 11th minute of play. Etienne Cutajar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Refalo in the 14th minute of play. Patrick Refalo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Etienne Cutajar having to interfere. After 26 played minutes Vendra F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Bernard Mifsud. In the 28th minute of the match Franco Sapienza shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Etienne Cutajar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 30th minute, Vendra F.C.'s Clyde Buhaġiar dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The supporters of Birkirkara FC booed when Vendra F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duminku Schembri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jacob Mifsud recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Patrick Camilleri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clyde Buhaġiar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 55 minutes, Duminku Schembri mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vendra F.C. and the Birkirkara FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 56th minute, Duminku Schembri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Patrick Camilleri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clyde Buhaġiar in the 61st minute of play. In the 62nd minute Duminku Schembri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Camilleri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Etienne Cutajar made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Patrick Refalo sent off a good shot on target. In the 69th minute of the match Alfred Testaferrata Moroni Viani sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Etienne Cutajar skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Birkirkara FC booed when Vendra F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duminku Schembri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Etienne Cutajar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacob Mifsud in the 76th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Clyde Buhaġiar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vendra F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Clyde Buhaġiar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Patrick Camilleri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vendra F.C.'s Duminku Schembri got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Birkirkara FC's Tim Gulia got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Duminku Schembri received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Patrick Camilleri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Birkirkara FC's zone, Duminku Schembri stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Camilleri came out of the goal and Duminku Schembri tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Duminku Schembri struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Patrick Camilleri didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vendra F.C.. After having played for 96 minutes, Clyde Buhaġiar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vendra F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Clyde Buhaġiar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There was no doubt that Vendra F.C. were the better team. Vendra F.C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
