A collision led to Mistra United getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Gary Mangion hit a great ball. 22 minutes into the match, Roderick Gonzi notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Mistra United's Roderick Fava. Roderick Fava was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 27 minutes, Angelo Pirotta mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mistra United and the Sliema players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 27th minute, Angelo Pirotta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Sliema's Paul Bugeja broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Edward Bajo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roderick Fava having to interfere. Roderick Fava took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Bajo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Edward Bajo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roderick Fava read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. If Edward Bajo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Brady Fabri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Sliema's Adriano Scifo got a free kick in the 68th minute. A well placed Angelo Pirotta short distance shot in the 70th minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. Edward Bajo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Roderick Fava having to make a save. Edward Bajo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Roderick Fava tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 95 minutes of play, Sliema's Roderick Gonzi made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roderick Fava was left in no man's land by his defense there! There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sliema fully deserved thier win.
