In the 7th match minute, San Gwann FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andrew Callus to maneuver through the defense. 8 minutes into the match, Antonio Testaferrata Viani notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Paola Chelsea fc's Luigi Montebello. Luigi Montebello was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luigi Montebello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Testaferrata Viani in the 15th minute of the match. Arthur De Battista scored 0-2 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luigi Montebello, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Paola Chelsea fc's Luigi Montebello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonio Testaferrata Viani in the 20th minute of play. Carl Cucciardi's late challenge caught a Paola Chelsea fc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carl Cucciardi helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd minute, Carl Cucciardi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Paola Chelsea fc's Giovanni Gerada couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 34th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for San Gwann FC. Tim Vella hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Antonio Testaferrata Viani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luigi Montebello having to interfere. In the 44th minute, Tim Vella hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arthur De Battista in the 45th minute of play forced Paola Chelsea fc's goalkeeper Luigi Montebello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Malcolm Gatt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Malcolm Gatt fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paola Chelsea fc's protests and gave Malcolm Gatt a yellow card for diving instead. In the 65th minute, one of Paola Chelsea fc:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Paola Chelsea fc. When Antonio Testaferrata Viani came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the San Gwann FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antonio Testaferrata Viani couldn't finish the play. Malcolm Gatt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Peter Paul Cioffi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 80th minute of the match Malcolm Gatt completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Malcolm Gatt a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 81 played minutes Paola Chelsea fc got a freekick which was hit by Malcolm Gatt. Antonio Testaferrata Viani sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Paola Chelsea fc's Luigi Montebello got control of the ball when Antonio Testaferrata Viani tried to sneak it across the goal line. Philip Ellul Bonici fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 89th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. Tim Vella fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Paul Cioffi having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in San Gwann FC's zone, Philip Ellul Bonici stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peter Paul Cioffi came out of the goal and Philip Ellul Bonici tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arthur De Battista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luigi Montebello having to interfere.
