Cleaven Salinos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Godwin Mercieca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thomas Aquilina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tyrone Sapiano having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Harry Risso made the kick off in the second half. If Tim Tanti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Qala's zone, Harry Risso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tyrone Sapiano came out of the goal and Harry Risso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Qala's Tyrone Sapiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harry Risso in the 67th minute of play. In the 68th minute Tim Tanti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cleaven Salinos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Shawn Testaferrata Moroni Viani during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Buġibba had played much better football throughout.
