Clint Gatt made in the 15th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Skull Tower MFC's Kenneth Mallia. In the 17th minute of the match, Tim Sapienza got a very nice opportunity to score, but Tyrone Terribile was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Noel Avellino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 21 minutes, Noel Avellino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skull Tower MFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Noel Avellino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 27th minute Robbie Doublet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tyrone Terribile saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tyrone Terribile showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Dejan DeGaetano charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dejan DeGaetano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 37th minute of the game. One of Luqa St.Andrews:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Skull Tower MFC:s goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Noel Avellino was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Thomas Deguara managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skull Tower MFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Thomas Deguara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernard Grima breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tyrone Terribile made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robbie Doublet in the 57th minute of play. If Robbie Doublet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Luqa St.Andrews's Bernard Grima got control of the ball when Kenneth Mallia tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by James Ebejer in the 75th minute of play forced Luqa St.Andrews's goalkeeper Bernard Grima to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Skull Tower MFC's goal looked a bit too open when Robbie Doublet came free, but Tyrone Terribile reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Noel Avellino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernard Grima having to interfere. Thomas Callus charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Thomas Callus the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thomas Callus kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Thomas Deguara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernard Grima having to interfere. When the match was over Skull Tower MFC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Luqa St.Andrews throughout the match.
