But to his dismay, Gregory Testaferrata Abela quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After 15 played minutes San Lawrenz FC got a freekick which was hit by Gregory Testaferrata Abela. After 16 played minutes San Lawrenz FC got a freekick which was hit by Tony Cassar Torreggiani. Spartacus F.C.'s Peter Paul Kenely got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Alessio Borg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spartacus F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Alessio Borg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matthew Falzon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. San Lawrenz FC's Matthew Falzon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save San Lawrenz FC from getting a goal against them. Ethan Xuereb showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gregory Testaferrata Abela in the 31st minute of the match. Ethan Xuereb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alessio Rapinett in the 32nd minute of play. Matthew Falzon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Matthew Bianco in the 34th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Spartacus F.C.'s zone, Alessio Rapinett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ethan Xuereb came out of the goal and Alessio Rapinett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ethan Xuereb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander Cefai, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Alessio Borg succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 42nd playminute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Matthew Bianco to make the kick off. After 56 minutes San Lawrenz FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Peter Paul Kenely who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Spartacus F.C.'s Peter Paul Kenely to fire away a dangerous shot which Matthew Falzon despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Daniele Gabarretta during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
