5 minutes into the match, San Ġwann Knights's goalkeeper Benoir Dingli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Degabriele. Pembroke's Marco Valenzia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jurgen Carren in the 7th minute of play. Jurgen Carren received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Marco Valenzia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th match minute, San Ġwann Knights was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luke Gonzaga to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Pembroke's Francis Micallef tried to score from far away in the 14th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Julian Degabriele who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Benoir Dingli when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Reuben Ambrogio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to San Ġwann Knights getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Jurgen Carren hit a great ball. Vittorio Bianco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Benoir Dingli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Julian Degabriele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, San Ġwann Knights's Roderick Cremona Barbaro got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 42nd minute of the match Francis Micallef sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benoir Dingli skillfully saved the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jurgen Carren to make the kick off. Julian Degabriele fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benoir Dingli having to interfere. Benoir Dingli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reuben Ambrogio in the 55th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, San Ġwann Knights's Andrew Testaferrata Moroni Viani got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 57th minute Reuben Ambrogio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benoir Dingli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Pembroke's goal looked a bit too open when Jurgen Carren came free, but Marco Valenzia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jurgen Carren in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marco Valenzia saved Pembroke from getting behind. In the 65th minute, Alexander Covich made a precise shot to the right of Marco Valenzia. Pembroke's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Luke Gonzaga's shot from long distance in the 71st minute was not bad at all, but Pembroke's Marco Valenzia knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. Alexander Covich who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 73rdth minute tested the skills of Marco Valenzia when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alexander Covich received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Marco Valenzia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benoir Dingli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Degabriele in the 81st minute of play. Jurgen Carren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Pembroke's zone, Alexander Covich stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marco Valenzia came out of the goal and Alexander Covich tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Jurgen Carren came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the San Ġwann Knights fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jurgen Carren couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in San Ġwann Knights's zone, Reuben Ambrogio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benoir Dingli came out of the goal and Reuben Ambrogio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
